Fair Warning - Word travels fast in the MMA world. There are few things worse than screwing over the guy that writes the checks and if it happens enough the only people in this business that will want to work with you are the very people you don't want to be working with. That being said, this list is devoted to those that have left us or our friends hanging.
Untrustworthy
_These are the people that screwed us to the point that we will never invest a second of our time or trust in them again.
Tony Maier - First time around he showed up to the fight, went through the rules meeting, started warming up then came to us with a story about how his wife just got in an accident with a drunk driver. He said he had to go and he didn't have the money to get home so we gave him his travel funds even though he didn't fight. The second show he called and said he didn't have the money to make it to begin with so we wired it to him. He showed up, did the rules meeting, started warming up and then just disappeared. No reason, nothing. We actually didn't even know he was gone until the fighter introductions were called out and he was the only fighter that didn't show. Come to find out he and his friends were back at the hotel trashing the place before they went home. I asked him why a few days later and his response was "I left because i left and good luck proving it was me that fucked up the room." Oh well, in my opinion this is the action of a weasel and in my experience nature is usually a bitch to the rodent world. Just the same though, good luck in all you do Tony.
Unreliable
Not much worse than committing to a fight and then pulling out for no reason right before the fight. It's not only a waste of the match makers time but it also screws over the promotion, their gym, their coaches, the fans and their opponent, especially if they had to cut weight.
Charlie Wilson - He did weigh ins, rules meeting and everything. Then just before fighter introductions he walked out, said he had to go get his hands wrapped and then got in his car and left.
Justin Shanks - Weighed in, sat through the rules meeting, did the face-off pics and introduction, walked out to the cage door and turned around.
